Stylistically Bernd Gradwohl's music moves in a suspens-filled space between 20th and 21st century influence, and master craftsman tradition of the past, which approach is derived from infinite admiration for those early composers.

Of course, in light of Bach and the such, the concept and definition of the word "composer", with its practically unattainable demands in every epoch since then, must drive composers to questions their own doings:
"Opposed to him (Bach) we are all incompetent." Robert Schumann

Bernd Gradwohl's continuous search for means of expressions, finds its inspiration in different styles of music from Bach to Jazz. As a result his approach to composition, connecting past to present is a testimony to the evolution of time, but nevertheless, still carrying the inheritence of the past.
